Join us for upcoming sessions on Early Childhood Care and Education, organised by the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS). The lectures are open to all educators, parents and guardians who are interested in nurturing young lives.
SUSS is holding two exciting lectures in August and October this year. Sign up to learn about important issues such as pre-schoolers’ relationships with their peers, adults and the community, as well as supporting language development among infants and toddlers.
On Monday, 8 August 2022, Emeritus Professor William A. Corsaro—of Indiana University—will present “Children’s Friendship, Peer Culture and Adult-Child Relations”. This afternoon session (from 1-2:30 p.m.) will look at the role of teachers, parents and community members in strengthening children’s bonds with their classmates and friends. Register for Emeritus Professor Corsaro’s lecture here.
Next, on Thursday, 20 October 2022, Macquarie University’s Professor Sheila Degotardi, Dr. Fiona Zheng, Dr. Natalie Brand and Dr. Emilia Djonov will present “The Language Environment of Infants and Toddlers in Early Childhood Settings and its Value for Learning”. This lunchtime lecture (from 1-2:30 p.m.) will explore the language environment in Australian early years’ settings, and explain how the use of language can be a key tool for learning.
