Learn how to support resilience in young children at this upcoming lecture with Dr. Yoichi Sakakihara—Professor Emeritus at Ochanomizu University and Director of Child Research Net (CRN), Japan—organized by the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS).
Resilience is key in confronting the unpredictable future, as well as events such as the Covid-19 pandemic and global warming. To find out how to raise resilient children, check out SUSS’s next public lecture in October.
On Monday, 3 October 2022, Dr. Yoichi Sakakihara will present “Predictor of Children’s Quality of Life (QOL) and Resilience during Covid-19 Pandemic in Asian Countries”. The afternoon session (from 1-2:30 p.m.) will explore the topic of children’s resilience and happiness, drawing on data from a recent study.
Dr. Yoichi Sakakihara conducted a research survey involving 1,973 mothers of 5-year-old children in eight Asian countries (Philippines, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand).
And findings indicate key links between resilience and happiness, resilience and responsive parenting, early childhood education and care (ECEC) quality and support, as well as non-punitive parenting. Also, resilience may be predicted by happiness, and ECEC quality and support.
