Join us for an upcoming online public lecture series on Early Childhood Care and Education, organised by the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS). The sessions are open to all professionals, parents and guardians who are interested in nurturing young lives!
SUSS is holding three exciting lectures in May and June this year. Sign up to learn about a range of topics: the meaning of “quality” in early childhood education, how to support playful learning among young children, and the influences that help and hamper learning in the early years.
On Wednesday, 18 May 2022, Professor Iram Siraj—of the University of Oxford—will present “What Is a Quality Early Education? Why Is It Important and How Can We Measure It? Evidence from Research”. This evening session (from 6-7:30 p.m.) will look at “quality” in relation to preschools and home learning environments and share how this has a lasting impact on children’s learning outcomes and well-being. Register for Professor Siraj’s lecture here.
Next, on Saturday, 4 June 2022, Pennsylvania State University’s Professor Jennifer Zosh will present “Playful Learning: Rethinking Play as a Spectrum That Supports Learning across Ages and Contexts”. This morning session (from 9-10:30 a.m.) will explore how the playful learning pedagogy can be leveraged across contexts—including schools, homes and communities—and ages. Register for Professor Zosh’s lecture here.
Then, on Wednesday, 15 June 2022, Ms Rowena Phair of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) will present “What Matters Most to 5-Year-Olds: A Presentation of Findings from OECD’s International Early Learning and Child Well-Being Study”. This evening talk (from 6-7:30 p.m.) will cover the key factors that drive or hinder the development of early learning. Register for Ms Rowena Phair’s lecture here.
